India has a lot of competition in studying and hence some genius invented this examination where we have to compete to get into our desired college with those marks. How amazing is that and just not just one but there are so many of them. 

Exams like JEE, NEET, KVPY, AIIMS, etc. are the most common type in India but let me tell you there are so many competitive exams and it blew my mind when i was having a little research time of mine. To know more about such competitive exams keep reading further. 


What are competitive exams ?

A competitive examination is where students appear to get into their desired colleges and where the competition is very high. It is also dependent on grades, the one who scores more basically gets into their desired college and if you score less you end up getting a college but sometimes not the one you want or maybe none at all.

List of competitive exams:

There are many competitive exams in India and for different streams they vary. Actually in one stream there are more than 2 exams and you can chose between them.

Competitive exams for engineering:

1. JEE Mains + Advance:

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Exam, this is the most common competitive exam in India from where students can take admission into their desired engineering college. JEE main is divided into 2 parts, paper 1 and paper 2. Both the papers have MCQ's from each of the subjects (PCM). There are in total 30 questions asked from each subject. Paper-1 is conducted online.

2. BITSAT:

BITSAT stands for Birla Institute of Technology & Science Admission Test, this is hosted by the BITS, Pilani university. This is a computer based online exam. They provide on campus degree programmes which are offered at Pilani campus, Goa campus and Hyderabad campus in India.

3. VITEEE:

The full name for VITEEE is Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam. Students who aspire to go to this university should compulsory appear for this exam. This is a computer based online exam conducted in English language.

Competitive exam for medical:

1. NEET:

NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and is the most common competitive exam followed by AIIMS. After NEET students can take up any medical course they want and most common is MBBS/BDS courses. 2. AIIMS:

The full form of AIIMS is All India Institute of Medical Sciences and is conducted by New Delhi each year. After you have cleared and have been qualified for MBBS you will be allotted to a medical college from anywhere in India.

Competitive exam for defence services:

1. IMU CET:

IMUCET stands for Indian Maritime University which conducts Common Entrance Test, which provides admission to undergraduates courses in:
  • B.Tech (Marine Engineering)
  • B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)
  • BSc in Ship Building and Repair 
  • BSc in Maritime Science 
  • BSc in Nautical Science

2. Indian Army Technical Entry Scheme:

For those who wish to go in the army and have passion towards engineering then this exam is responsible for admission of students who wish to be a officer in engineering core in army. 


Competitive exams for fashion and design:

1. NIFT:

NIFT stands for National Institute of Fashion Technology and these colleges are spread through out India and they conduct NIFT entrance exam each year for students who desire to pursue their education in Fashion.

2. National Institute of Design Admissions:

To get admission in the course GDPD which stands for Graduate Diploma Programme in Design. Students who have passed out of class 12th and those who are also graduate can apply.

3. AIEED:

All India Entrance Exam for Design is conducted all over India who get admission in Design programmes taking place in undergraduate design colleges.

4. FDDI:

FDDI stands for Footwear Design and Development Institute. This institute conducts All India Selection Test for students who opt for footwear designing.

Competitive exam for Social Science:

1. TISS-BAT:

Tata Institute of Social Sciences Bachelor Admission Test is conducted for students who want to study the subject Social Science after they have completed class 12th. This exam is conducted to get admission in any of Tata Institute of Social Sciences campus which are located in Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad.

Competitive exams for Law:

1. CLAT:

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) competitive exam let's you get admission in courses like LLB, LLM, etc. This exam should be given by anyone who wants to be a lawyer. 


2. AILET:

All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is also an entrance exam held all over India for those who wish to be a lawyer and study for courses like LLB, LLM, etc. 


Competitive exam for pure science:

1. KVPY:

2. NEST:

NEST stands for National Entrance Screening Test which is conducted for students who want to participate in R&D of this country. 


Why is it necessary to give these exams ?

Not all fields are like BSc, BMM or BMS where you get direct admissions, here the students are first tested upon their knowledge because there are numerous students who wish to take these fields and hence these exams were brought into consideration so that the deserving candidate get's himself/herself allotted into their desired college it be engineering, medical, law, etc.
