75% marks for NEET in 12th examination ? This is all you need to know


There are many competitive exams in India like JEE, NEET, KVPY (to know more about KVPY click here), etc. and all these exams have their own eligibility criteria. Now, in these eligibility criteria there are some basics like age, marks, nationality, etc.. Today we will be talking about a asimple question which is, is it compulsory to get 75% marks for NEET in your 12th examination?

No, it is not compulsory to score 75% marks in your 12th examination if you are appearing for NEET along with your boards but if you have already appeared for NEET and took a drop in order to study for this competitive exam you need at least of 50% marks in aggregate in your PCBE for general or unreserved category in NEET and 40% for SC/ST/OBC or reserved category.

The minimum percentage for NEET varies because of the reserved and unreserved categories in India. For general or unreserved it is 50% marks in aggregate and for reserved category it is 40% marks in aggregate.

Just like when i was appearing for my NEET along with my boards i was scared as well if i will be able to appear or not because of this eligibility of 50% marks in aggregate in your 12th examination. Let me tell you that yes you can because this eligibility criteria is for those who are appearing for NEET for the second time or took a drop year and so you have to upload your 12th marksheet at the time of application submission.

If i don't get 50% marks in my 12th examination am i eligible for NEET ? 

First thing, marks vary in different category and you belong to reserved category and you score less than 50% marks suppose 43% or 45% you are eligible to appear for NEET examination but if you belong to unreserved category and score less than 50% you are not eligible to appear for NEET.

Ps - The marks obtained in 12th examination is only needed if you are appearing for the second time or took a drop to study for NEET.

Are NEET marks considered in all medical fields ?

The answer is no and here is in which field NEET marks are not considered. NEET marks are considered in medical fields but except for BVSC & AH where you need at least 50% marks in aggregate for general category and for SC/ST/OBC you need 47% marks in aggregate in your 12th examination.

What is the age limit for NEET examination ?

The age limit for NEET examination is of 17 years of age for both reserved and unreserved category.

Can an improvement or repeater student appear for NEET ? 

Yes, an improvement or a repeater candidate can appear of NEET but have to fulfil the criteria of 50% marks for general and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC categories.
