25 Tips to stay focused:

Some amazing and easy tips for you to follow if you want to build up concentration while studying, which are as follows:

1. Find a study partner:

First thing, do not choose your best friend as your study partner, well if you best friend is a nerd then surely go for it, but if your best friend is someone you'd spend time talking to and gossipying with instead of studying then it's a big NO!

There are a lot of benefits of having a study partner like you can discuss your quires with that person, track each other's performance, take mock test together and many other things. I don't think you will be able to do this all with your best friend so choose your study partner wisely.

2. Find a comfortable study environment:

After you have found yourself a suitable partner now it's time for a comfortable environment where you will be comfortable and feel free to study at. For everyone this works differently, some find it comfortable to sit in a library and study, at home, in classroom or at home on your bed, between pillows and all comfy!

At the end you just have to study and be comfortable.

3. Switch off your phone and laptop:

Mobile phones and laptops are so addictive and to get rid of these stuffs is pretty tough but here you'll have to gather some courage, turn of your wifi/data connection of your smartphone and get yourself to study.

It is going to be tough at the start but you will surely be able to study once you try to make up your mind and stick to your words.

4. Stay motivated:

This is a must need tip because you might get imbalanced somewhere and that's when your partner might play this amazing role of keeping you motivated or vice versa.

Don't let anything negative get into your mind like "how am I supposed to do all this ?" or "will I be able to do this ?" instead change them to "how do I manage my time for today ?" or "how much should I do to achieve my daily goal ?"

5. Stay focused:

Once you've sat there on your desk, bed or anywhere you find comfortable to study you are sort of going to get distracted by thoughts or maybe people around you sometimes even things and that's where you know how much of focused you really are. Just to not lose this focus you have to really make up your mind and have a full control on your senses.

Key tip - After you think that you are starting to control all your senses it's time for your thoughts as well. Having thoughts that might get you upset and have an impact on your academics should be totally kept aside and just like i mentioned in the above tip use that and it will help.

6. Create a study ritual:

Creating a study ritual is so important, you need to know when to take a break, by what time you have to be done by this particular topic so you start with another one just in that time limit and these small things need to be organised maybe in your head or a piece of paper just for a quick glance.

7. Avoid panicking:

Studying certainly gets a lot of panicking and a lot of anxiety about how you are going to perform what questions might be asked and if you are studying at the end moment this is surely going to get you even though your concepts are clear (that's why Student Baba is here) and that's when you end up getting panic attacks.

To avoid panic attacks take deep a breathe and put all your senses to work, pay attention to what you observe in your surrounding, what you smell, what you hear, things you can feel in the surrounding, the temperature your skin is feeling and this works for me every time I'm having panic attacks even for the minor things.

8. Don't get discouraged:

Now, you've followed all the steps from above and one of your friend says he has done everything and is totally prepared for the exams and looks energised that's when you start to question yourself about everything you've prepared, you basically start to have second thoughts on "did I get enough time ?" and then it ends up making your confidence low.

If your friend has done his part it is good for him because you know the efforts you have put in are more than you could cause this works differently for people some like studying for 10hrs straight or some for 1hr and that is enough cause at the end it's you who has to study. So don't be discouraged by such a small thing and believe in yourself that you can make it.

9. Set study goals:

Setting a study goal is to know how much you should do in order to finish this topic and in how much time. For eg, you're preparing for a competitive exam or maybe for your boards you have for instance take Physics as your weak subject and you have to finish it in a month so dividing those chapters equally so you can do maybe 2 chapters a day for 2-2 hours each.

Make sure you achieve that goal in that day or that particular time line you have created for yourself.

10. Learn to say no:

"Ek game PUBG khel lete yaar baadme padh lenge" if you get carried away by this a lot and then you end up playing and not studying you have to learn to say no to your friends. Now you must be thinking "how am I supposed to say no to them they are my friends ?"

Let me tell you a little secret, no one really cares except your parents and imagine you play PUBG instead of studying how disheartened would they be ? So make a choice want to lose friends who are just for PUBG or your family who will always be there by your side.

11. Make a to-do-list:

You'd start questioning why would i want to make a to-do-list when i all i have to do is study ? Well, not like you are going to study for 24/7 and you have so many other things to do in a day like sleeping, eating, playing, meditating, exercise, etc. and to have them in an order and you know you have to do these things on daily basis you have to make a list and then turn them into a schedule/time table and just follow it.

12. Divide up + space out study sessions:

Just like I told you earlier dividing whatever you are doing helps a lot to achieve more and you will also know how much time you need to finish.

Divide your time wisely and make sure you are getting equal time for everything in a day.

13. Focus on skills, not grades:

If you just keep on thinking that you have to score this much in this test and just study for that, you might end up continuing it for your whole life and you won't gain anything from that but just grades which won't even matter at the end after you've got a job.

Skills help you get through the most difficult task if you practice. I am not good at math but I keep practicing daily with small numbers of calculations and it has got me through the half way.

Just keep practicing and focus on how to improve those skills and not just study for grades.

14. Track your performance:

Tracking your performance will help you know your potential of studying in an hour or so. If you are trying to do 1 chapter in 2 hours but you end up doing it in 1.5 hours then it's an achievement for you and your study goals which would also reflect in a good way on your skills.

15. Don't stay off topic:

Maybe your mom called you to help her a bit and then after you've done your job you check your phone for a while scroll through some apps, wander about, etc.. These things are keeping you away from studying and to avoid this you have to make up a strong will that once you've done with your assigned work your duty is to get back from where you left and not wander around.

16. Take short breaks:

Taking a break of 5-10 mins to clear your mind helps a lot if you have been studying for 2 hours without losing concentration and focus. This is a must need break in your study schedule. Rearrange your thoughts, stay hydrated and just close your eyes, set the timer for 5-6 mins and just keep your head blank and completely rest for those 5-6 mins and then once your time is over get back to where you left from.

17. Collect the materials you'll while studying:

Before getting into the zone and starting to prepare make sure you have everything near you like stationary, snacks, etc.. so that you don't have to leave your study environment every time you need something.

18. Listen to calm music:

Listening to calm music before you study or when you take short breaks will keep you focused and you won't be having any thoughts, you'll just focus on what's in front of you instead of thinking about something else. This always works for me every time, when I'm typing my blog or when I have a huge stressed out day and have to stay calm.

19. If you feel hungry while studying, keep snacks near you:

Don't think of it as a bad sign if you end up being hungry after one hour of study. It is good that you are consuming as much energy as you can which will help you memorize and understand topics easily.

If you feel hungry while studying make sure before getting all comfy and in the zone head outside get some quick snacks like chips or something and keep it in your reach so if you feel hungry grab on and have some while studying.

20. Study during your peak brain times:

This might be little confusing to understand but let me explain it to you. Your brain has a particular time in a day where it is very quick and so it can understand easily and you don't have to stress over it. For some this is in morning, for some at night and for some in the evening or noon. You just have to know what time your brain works at it fullest then you can create your table accordingly.

21. Let you and your loved one take a break:

If you're having a boyfriend/girlfriend it must be hard for you to stay away form them and concentrate and for that you both can have a same schedule. Also you can make them your study partner as well if you both will actually study and not lose concentration (if you know what i mean!).

If you can't concentrate together then just give each other a break for few hours.

22. Get some stuff to cuddle with while studying:

Sometimes when you are busy studying you need stuff to play with or fidget with like a pen or a pencil or something. If you feel comfortable with it and you feel that this helps you understand better, just do it!

23. Reframe negative thoughts:

Just like i mentioned earlier in tip #4 just follow it. Try changing those negative thoughts into positive ones and get to study as soon as you can, so you don't lose focus and attention you have.

24. Have diverse tasks: long, short, easy or difficult:

When you are preparing your schedule make sure you are able to cope up with all the tasks you have to do it in a day and start with whatever you are comfortable with. Like maybe you want to do short and easy tasks before and long and difficult for later or vise versa.

25. Exercise:

Exercising is a must because it boost your heart rate which helps in more oxygen transport to your brain and you will be active and presence of mind will increase. If you exercise on daily basis you might as well increase your concentration and strength to sit for long hours.

These were my 25 tips for you to help study and just like i mentioned in the title i'll also be giving you a bonus tip.

Bonus tip - Record yourself while studying:

Recording yourself while studying will tell you a lot about yourself like where are spending time and why are you not able to complete your task in the given time interval. Basically, it will answer your questions and it is a good tip to actually try.
